Professor emeritus from the University of Missouri, Ray Wood, an
archeologist and anthropologist of reknown, is the author of
countless articles and studies detailing the cultural and
ethnographic history of the Village Indians of the Upper Missouri
River, and the settlement of the Missouri River valley, with a
special focus on trade among the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara
tribes in modern day North Dakota.
