Satanta, Kiowa war chief
The fearless
leader of the Kiowa, Satanta, also known as the Orator of the
Plains, dies in a fall from a prison hospital window in Huntsville,
Texas. Prison authorities said he committed suicide, but his
people to this day believe he was thrown out the window by his
guards.
